LOUDONVILLE – Alice L. McDonald passed away peacefully Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Ohio Health Shelby Hospital. She was 80.

She was born on April 28, 1941, to parents Clendon and Pearl (Calkins) Farmer in Mount Vernon. After Alice graduated from Danville High School with the Class of 1959, she married Robert McDonald on July 24, 1960, and the pair were married for 53 years until Robert’s passing in 2013.

Alice worked as the Township Fiscal Officer for Hanover Township for 30 years until retiring, while also working simultaneously in the cafeteria at the Budd School for more than 25 years.

Alice was very artistic and enjoyed painting, quilting and sewing. She had many paintings and quilts win awards in the Loudonville Fair over the years. She also loved to vegetable and flower garden and spend time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her daughter Christine L. (Paul A.) Dawson; grandchildren Shawn (Audrey) Dawson and Matthew Dawson; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Dawson, Robert Dawson and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her siblings Ethel Brent, Margaretta Wilson, Ernest Farmer and Charles Farmer.

Alice’s family will receive friends Thursday, July 8, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m., with Paul Dove speaking. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery.
