Fredericktown’s TT Crouch and Mount Vernon’s Charlie Phillips each finished tied for eighth out of 234 golfers at the Ohio Open on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 29-30, at Westfield Country Club in Westfield Center.
Crouch shot a 67 on the first day and an even-par 70 in Round 2 to get to a 3-under 137 for the tournament.
Phillips was a little more even with a 69 on the first day and a 68 on the second to finish in a three-way tie with Crouch and Rocky Rivers behind winner Jake McBride (129) of Hartville.
Crouch scored six birdies in the opening round with a double bogey on 4 and a bogey on 5 serving as his only blemishes on the day. He offset those holes with three birdies on the back nine.
He double-bogeyed 2 on the second day and scored a pair of birdies before hitting par on each of the final 12 holes.
Phillips had bogeys on 2, 9 and 10, but holed three birdies in the final eight holes alone to finish with a 68 on the second day. He finished with five birdies for the round.
He finished strong on the first day with three birdies on the first five holes on the back nine before bogeys on 17 and 18 set him back.
Connor Curry of Mount Vernon shot a 69 on the second to finish 1-over 141 for the tournament and tied for 41st. Curry had seven birdies over the two days, including four on the second day, three on the back nine alone.
Brayden Baldridge of Howard shot a 144, including an even-par 70 on the first day. He finished with four birdies, including three in Round 1, to finish tied for 80th.
