Opportunity Knox is holding a Resume Drop-Off Event

MOUNT VERNON — Opportunity Knox Employment Center, the workforce division of Knox County Job and Family Services, is planning to host a Resume Drop-Off Event, July 13-15.

The event itself will be set up so that job seekers may browse bios and open positions submitted by employers and leave a resume for up to 10 employers they are interested in connecting with. All collected resumes will be forwarded to the respective employers upon the end of the three-day event.

"We want to make this as simple and least time-consuming for employers and most informative for job-seekers," Brandy Booth told the News. "Many local employers need workers. We want to get job-seekers connected with employers without doing a physical 'job fair' that would require employers be present and away from their work locations for an extended time. This event is something we've never tried before but hope for it to be successful."

Booth shared that the event was originally planned to match the scheduled end of national pandemic funds and extended payments for unemployment benefits in September, but after the governor’s announcement that Ohio will no longer participate in the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Program for the $300 weekly additional benefit, effective June 26, the event had to be moved up. July 13-15 is the soonest it could be organized after the governor's announcement.

Job-seekers may contact Opportunity Knox between now and July 8 for assistance in creating or updating their resume. Opportunity Knox can be contacted by calling 740-392-WORK or by email at Knox-Resource-Room@jfs.ohio.gov.

Employers who wish to participate in the event may send their company bio and job openings to Brandy Booth at Brandy.Booth@jfs.ohio.gov. Company bios should include the company location, information about what the company does, the company’s mission and other relevant details which will show job-seekers why they would want to work for that employer.

The event will be held in the conference room at the OhioMeansJobs Knox County Center (Opportunity Knox Employment Center) at 17604 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon. The event hours will be from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
