FREDERICKTOWN – Plans are in full gear for the 44th Fredericktown Tomato Show, to be held Sept. 8–11, 2021.
This year’s theme is “The Places You’ll Go!” This theme was chosen two years ago but the show was canceled. The theme seems even more appropriate this year. Everything was already planned for 2020 so the board decided to just move it all ahead to this year.
We are switching events/locations around a bit. Because they missed it last year, we are inviting those little girls who didn’t get their chance to be in the Little Miss Tomato Contest to join us on Thursday, Sept. 9, for their own contest. For this, little girls must be 7 years of age as of Sept. 1 of this year to qualify. This is a save-the-date notice. Those interested can check our website, tomatoshow.com, for registration forms and more details.
There will be no Lip Sync Contest this year. You can, however, expect to see a couple of lip-sync performances following the Little Miss Tomato Contest.
As usual, the little girls who will be 6 years old by Sept. 1 of this year will participate in their own Little Miss Tomato Contest on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The deadline to register for both contests is Aug. 22.
Due to the construction on Main Street, the Merchants Tent will be relocating to the parking lot behind the Municipal Building/Senior Citizens Building. The Tomato/Tomato Products/Vegetables/Baked Goods/Canned Goods Tent will be in the new parking lot at the corner of Main and College streets, hopefully.
The Cornhole Toss is moving too. It will be held in the parking lot next to the Historical Museum.
There will not be a second stage this year. All the free entertainment will take place on the Main Street stage. Wednesday will feature the Fredericktown United Methodist Church Praise Team. On Thursday, the stage will host the Granny Creek Ukulele Band. Local favorites Randy Otis Bandy and the Shuman Band will perform on Friday. Anyone who has seen The Jack will want to be near the stage on Saturday night.
Premium books and schedules will be out in August. T-shirts will be available at the Fredericktown Community Library in mid-July. Check for updates at tomatoshow.com.
