GAMBIER – Kenyon College graduates Ryn Grutkoski (2021) and Jeremy Moore (2019) each received National Science Foundation (NSF) fellowships this year, a press release from the college said.
The fellowships provide three-year annual stipends of $34,000 and a $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to the recipients’ graduate institutions. The release stated they are awarded through a competitive process solely to recipients with the most promising careers.
This year, NSF honorable mentions also went to undergraduates Austin Hulse (Class of 2019) and Elisabeth Bradford (Class of 2021).
Four NSF designations in a single year underscores the quality of study ongoing at Kenyon, associate professor of physics Tom Giblin said in the release.
“Winning an NSF grant helps students realize ‘how important the work is that they’ve done and how important science is here at Kenyon,’” Giblin said. “This isn’t a trial run; this is real honest-to-goodness, cutting-edge research.”
