MVGSL roundup: Danville Feed holds off Holmes Tire 5-4

Danville Feed & Supply scored twice in the fourth inning and then held off Holmes Tire in the fifth to win a 5-4 decision in Mount Vernon Girls Softball League play on Wednesday, May 26, at Memorial Park.

Clara Ashman, Ali Lannoy, Haley Melzer and Carma Warwick had two hits each to lead Danville Feed. Melzer, Warwick and Isabelle Payne each doubled; and Merella Vernon hit a triple.

Addison Beltz had three hits, Ava Kochis hit a triple and a double, and Joveigh Wilson hit a double for Holmes Tire.

Dugan Energy 17, Central Ohio Pressure Wash 2

Dugan Energy pounded out 19 hits as a team on its way to a 17-2 win over Central Ohio Pressure Wash on Wednesday, May 26.

Baley Barnett, Kinley Overholt and Kaylee Mullins had three hits apiece to lead Dugan. Mullins hit two triples and Barnett added a pair of doubles.

Seven different players had one hit apiece to pace Central Ohio Pressure Wash.

Griffith & Son Trucking 12, Wigal Orthodontics 3

Griffith & Son Trucking broke out for 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-3 win over Wigal Orthodontics on Wednesday, May 26.

Dalayna Parker had six strikeouts in the circle and added two hits at the plate, and Harley Styndl also had two hits — both doubles — to lead Griffith.

Cheree Cross hit a home run for Wigal.

Lady Amvets 12, Charlie’s Body Shop 11

Charlie’s Body Shop took the lead with a three-run third inning, but Lady Amvets scored four in the bottom half of the inning and won a 12-11 slugfest on Wednesday, May 26.

Adriana Hitchcock struck out three batters in the circle, and Elly Marshall and Alexis Fox each had a hit for Lady Amvets.

Chloe Peterson had two hits, including a double, and struck out six batters in the circle to lead Charlie’s.

CQ Construction 8, Lady Amvets 6

CQ Construction scored four times in the top of the seventh inning and held off a Lady Amvets rally for an 8-6 win on Tuesday, May 25.

Maddy Costamire had three hits — all doubles — and struck out 14 batters to lead CQ in the win. Raelynn Williams, Emma Scott and Karma Carpenter had two hits each. Williams hit a triple and Carpenter added a double.

Kaitlyn Evans had three hits to lead Lady Amvets. Abby Sapp struck out eight batters, Liz Leonard had a triple, and Kaylynn Ott and Abby Davis each hit doubles.

Team Hope 17, Ariel 12

Team Hope rallied for 10 runs in the fifth inning to win a 17-12 slugfest over Ariel on Tuesday, May 25.

Bre McCluskey hit three home runs and finished with four hits. She added five strikeouts in the circle to pace Team Hope. Lindsey Calkins also had a big day with four hits, including a homer.

Chelsea King had three hits at the plate and struck out seven batters in the circle to lead Ariel. Kenzie Rudrick had two hits — a triple and a double — and Chloe Calbert also had two hits.

Overhead Door 6, Park National Bank 4

Overhead Door struck for four runs in the first inning before holding off Park National Bank for a 6-4 win on Tuesday, May 25.

Emilee Evans had two hits, including a home run, and Mea Joyner struck out 12 batters to lead Overhead. Holly Hogle also had two hits.

Sarah John had 11 strikeouts and Morgan Hinkins doubled to pace Park National.

Danville Veterinary Clinic 17, JB Painting 1

Danville Veterinary Clinic put seven runs on the board to open the game and rolled to a 17-1 win over JB Painting on Tuesday, May 25.

Peyton Miller had three strikeouts and Emma Wise hit a triple to lead Danville Vet.

Reecie Lowe had two strikeouts for JB Painting.
