FREDERICKTOWN – Ralph Elwood Davis, 90, of Fredericktown, passed away Friday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 19, 1931 in Milam, West Virginia, to Floyd and Annie (Simon) Davis.

Ralph graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1949. He served our country with the United States Marine Corps.

Ralph married Shirley Martin on Sept. 28, 1951, until her death on June 4, 2017. He worked for Harstine Implement, then worked for Kokosing until retirement.

Ralph was a member of Fredericktown United Methodist Church. He served with the Fredericktown EMS for 38 years and worked for the Fredericktown Park Board. Ralph and Shirley Davis were also foster parents.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Ralph “Ed” Davis, Gloria Bartlett and John (Leslie) Davis Sr.; grandchildren, Joshua (Karen), Justin, Noelle (Chris), Leah (Jacob), John Jr. and Jason; great-grandchildren, Brice, Madeline, Lukeus and Cole; brother, Victor (Vivian) Davis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and sister, Betty Davis.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon. Burial will be later in Maple Grove Cemetery, where military rites will be held.
