NEWARK – A funeral service celebrating the life of Gladys Marie McFarland, 87, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Rusty Foley officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home, located at 179 Granville St. in Newark, from 5–8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home; and for your protection, a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time. Please practice social distancing.

Gladys was born in Newark on Sept. 6, 1933, to the late Albert and Myrtle (Fry) Johnson. She passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on March 20, 2021.

Gladys was a devoted homemaker to her family. She enjoyed crafting and word-search puzzles. Most important was the time she spent with her loving family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Phil (Dayna) McFarland, Paul McFarland, James (Sandra) McFarland, Vickie (Joseph) Reeves and Jeff McFarland; brothers and sisters, Junior (Janice) Johnson, George (Diane) Johnson, Carol (Richard) Gregory and Sharon Gregory; sister-in-law, Emily Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Paul McFarland; a son, Carl McFarland; sisters, Ruth (Ed) Thompson and Julia (Ray) Starling; a brother, Darrell Johnson; daughter-in-law, Debra McFarland; and brother-in-law, Robert Gregory.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gladys to the March of Dimes. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
