FREDERICKTOWN – Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Melick of Fredericktown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month.

Mr. Melick and the former Betty Bond were united in marriage on March 20, 1971, at First Christian Church in Mount Vernon. The Rev. Williard Guy officiated the ceremony.

They have six children, Patricia (Mike) Burch, Marlene (Bill) Phillips, Lee Anne (Tim) Dodderer, Glenn Long (Kelly Samson), Leslie Melick and deceased daughter RaeJeanne Booker. Ron and Betty have 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Ron worked for Continental Can/American Can and retired after 42 years in 1998. He has enjoyed playing softball for 60-plus years.

Betty was a homemaker and worked for IGA in the office for 20 years, retiring from there in 1983. She enjoyed bowling and playing euchre with her card club ladies.

Ron and Betty enjoy watching and traveling to all of their children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. They have spent many winters in Panama City and Myrtle Beach. Most of all, they love spending time with their children and grandchildren.

The children and grandchildren would like to congratulate them on 50 years of marriage and express how much they appreciate all that they have done for them. They really are the best parents/grandparents any son, daughter or grandchild could ever have!
