MOUNT VERNON – During the pandemic, the staff at The Laurels of Mount Vernon continues to be creative and willing to take suggestions from staff and guests to make our guests happy and content at our facility, Activities Director Sonjia Allonas said.

Each month, there is Laurel shopping, at which guests purchase pop, snacks, candy, knickknacks, lotions, bath and body soap, and any other items they suggest.

On Jan. 7, we had a Super Bowl party with snacks, wine, beer and pop, with guests choosing what they wanted the snacks and refreshments to be.

Jan. 9 was National Pizza Day, so we ordered pizza and and had it delivered for guests who wanted it.

We started out February with root beer floats, and the following week our guests enjoyed orange Creamsicle floats. Our guests also enjoyed making bird feeder crafts.

We shared a weekend of fun with our guests on Valentine's weekend.

On Friday, Feb. 12, guests received Valentine cookies and refreshments as well as a special Valentine balloon delivered to their rooms. On Valentine's Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, our guests received a variety of mini cheesecakes and refreshments.

Residents enjoyed making Mardi Gras masks on Feb. 15 in preparation for our Mardi Gras party on Feb. 16, where guests wore beaded necklaces and masks and ate Mardi Gras cookies.

For National Drink Wine Day on Feb. 18, we celebrated with wine and bingo. The peach wine was a huge hit!

Friday, Feb 26, was National Order Out Day, so our guests gave us food choices and activity staff picked up the food.

Peanut Butter Day was on March 1, so we celebrated by giving each of our guests an Uncrustable as we played music through the halls.
