DANVILLE – Buddy Jay Hagans, 95, of 13364 Tiger Valley Road, passed away at his daughter Susan’s home on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021.

Buddy was born on May 8, 1925, in Centerburg to the late George and Lucy Pearl (Stricker) Hagans. He was active in WWII, serving from 1942-45 as a corporal with the 3rd Marine Division, 21st Marines in the South Pacific, Solomon Islands. Later, in the Mariana Islands, he was wounded at Bougainville and again at Guam. He came home on a stretcher with two Purple Hearts and two Gold Stars.

Surviving are his two daughters, Darlene Baldridge and Susan (Craig) Payne; his grandchildren, Brian, Claudia, Pashie, Andrea, Burton and Jarred; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elmire Mary (Winke) Hagans. They were married on April 5, 1946; and she died on June 16, 2011.

Buddy contributed his longevity of life to regular walking and biking. He and Elmire enjoyed their winters in Florida.

There are no services scheduled. A private burial will take place in Workman Cemetery. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
