CENTERBURG – James Donald Linnabary, 95, of Centerburg, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 4, 1925, in Columbus to the late Joseph and Eersa (Patridge) Linnabary.  

A graduate of Sunbury High School in 1943, James played football and worked on the family farm. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed camping and farming, and he loved animals, mainly dogs. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Europe, Japan, Ireland and just about all 50 states. James was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather.  

He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Beck of Centerburg; his son, Keith (Ruth Ann) Linnabary of Cardington; six grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Sara, Tara, Adam and Abigail; 13 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Dawson, Philip, Tyler, Anna, Lucas, Sarah, Cole, Ransom, Joey, Kylie, Daisy and Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Henry and Judy Jordan of Dothan, Alabama.

James was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife of 65 years, M. June (Turnbull) Linnabary; a sister, Maxine Longshore; and a brother, Robert Linnabary.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61 (at State Route 3) in Sunbury, where the family will receive friends from noon until the time of service. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at facebook.com/SunburySFH. Pastor Roger Crego will be officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
