HOWARD – Sheryl D. Hendrix, 68, of Howard, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Chicago and adopted at birth by the late Thomas and Sue (Chambers) Cullin.

Sheryl retired from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she worked in the library as an administrative assistant. She was a member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Marion. She was involved with Bible-study fellowship. Sheryl enjoyed traveling and playing the card game Hand and Foot, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Robert Hendrix, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1979; son, Jonathan Hendrix of Howard; daughter, Kimberly Parsons and her husband Jason of Pleasant City; grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail; a sister, Joyce Cullin and her husband John Lasky of Plainfield, Illinois; and many friends.

The family will receive friends from noon on Monday, Feb. 8, until the time of a funeral service celebrating Sheryl’s life at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 303 S. Edgewood Road in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Jane Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be observed.
