CENTERBURG – Frederick Allen Albrecht Sr., 86, of Centerburg, went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. He was born on July 8, 1934, in Columbus to Leota Mae and Walter Christian Albrecht.
Fred graduated from Zanesville High school in 1952 and continued on to Kentucky Christian College, graduating in 1959. He served as a minister of the Church of Christ for the past 60 years, including the congregations at Frazeysburg; Coal Run; Beverly; New Marshfield; Airline; McConnelsville; Meigs; the First Christian Church in Covington, Virginia; and for the past 40 years at the Centerburg Church of Christ. He retired from full time ministry in 2000, but continued to serve his church and community, rising early every morning and spending time in his "upper room" office at the church. Fred also delivered mail and was retired from the Centerburg Post Office. Those on his route knew him well and would often surprise him by leaving a Mountain Dew for him in their mailbox.
Fred was a true patriot with a deep love and respect for his country. He enjoyed his eagle collection and flew the American flag with pride. He loved singing and preaching at church and community festivals, spending his winters in Florida, rhubarb pie and good cup of coffee. He was a loyal, loving husband; an excellent father; a proud grandfather/great-grandfather and a true friend. Fred's fervent love for Jesus Christ was evident in every aspect of his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who have been touched by his kindness and compassion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sally (Paynter) Albrecht; his brother, Walter (Rose) Albrecht; his children, Frederick Jr. (Sandy) Albrecht, Daniel (Cammie) Albrecht, Denise (Dave) Melvin and Dean (Jennifer) Albrecht; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His greatest joy on earth was being surrounded by his family.
Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Albrecht; his sister, Thelma (Albrecht) Gockenbach; and his parents.
Friends may call at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 Columbus Road in Centerburg, on Friday, Jan. 29, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Roger Crego, Daryn Dawes and Matt McManaway presiding. Services will be livestreamed at CenterburgChurchOfChrist.com.
The family would like to express our deep thanks for all of the love, support and well wishes in our time of loss. And in the words of Fred, "He served the Lord with gladness and loved his country til death." Shalom.
