MOUNT VERNON – Marlene J. Keaton, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at the home of her daughter Linda Beck, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo to Clarence James Roberts and Lillian Eleanor (Bolczak) Roberts.
Marlene retired from K-Mart Stores as manager of the watch and jewelry department, with 17 years of service. She was very proud of the offices she held at the Waters Edge Homeowners Association as part of the Welcoming Committee and treasurer. She was also a longtime active member of the Lioness Club where she held many offices, including presidency. Mom was an avid euchre player, animal lover and camper; and she spent many summer months at Kelly’s Island and childhood vacations in Canada on Lake Erie.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Doug) Copas, Vicki (Todd) Phillips, James (Sherri) Mullins, Mary Frazee, Linda (Bob) Beck and Steve (Shelly) Mullins; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Eleanor “Lea” Braskett.
Marlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Mullins; second husband, George Keaton; sister, Virginia Roberts; a dear brother-in-law, Richard Braskett; loving daughter, Carolyn “Susie” Ryder; and a dear son-in-law, Kevin Frazee.
