MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Chamber of Commerce recently held their Annual Awards Ceremony virtually, with many of the awards presented and accepted on stage in the Knox Memorial Building. 

Winners were:

• The Judy Klavins Ambassador of the Year Award — Julie Lucas.

• The 2020 Leadership Knox Distinguished Alumni Award — Lisa Lloyd.

• The Environmental Sustainability Award — Replex Plastics, accepted by Mark Schuetz.

• The Heart Award — the YMCA, accepted by Nick Clark.

• The Quality of Life Award — New Directions, accepted by Lori James-Perkins.

• Volunteer of the Year Award — Lisa Lloyd.

• Investor in the Future Award — The Gateway Project, the joint effort of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Mount Vernon City Schools and the City of Mount Vernon. MVNU President Dr. Henry Spaulding II, Superintendent Bill Seder and Mayor Matt Starr each accepted the award in honor of their respective organizations.

• Women in Business Leadership Award — Amy Smart.

• The Entrepreneur Spirit Award — Half Baked Café and Catering, accepted by Rebecca and Nav Ajodhya.

• The Small Business of the Year Award — McDaniel CPA, accepted by Renee McDaniel.

• Business of the Year Award — Knox Public Health, accepted by Health Commissioner Julie Miller.

• The Lifetime Achievement Award — Julie Miller.
