Mount Vernon City Council passes resolutions on community grants and appropriations

The Mount Vernon City Council announced on June 2 that it passed several pieces of legislation, which were signed by Council President Bruce Hawkins, approved by Mayor Matthew Starr, and attested by Assistant Clerk of Council Amber Swain. The legislation is available for public inspection at the Clerk of Council's office at 40 Public Square, Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Resolution No. 2026-64 authorizes and directs the Safety-Service Director to prepare and submit applications for Program Year 2026 Community Development Block Grants. These include the Neighborhood Revitalization Grant, Critical Infrastructure Grant, Residential Public Infrastructure Grant, and Allocation Grant. The resolution also declares an emergency.

Resolution No. 2026-65 authorizes and directs the Auditor of the City of Mount Vernon to make supplemental appropriations.

Resolution No. 2026-66 authorizes and directs the Auditor to pay bills pursuant to Section 5705.41(D), known as Then and Now Certification.

All legislation passed is maintained on file with the Clerk of Council for public review.
