MOUNT VERNON – Margaret E. Harris, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Jan. 9, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living with her family by her side. She was born on May 9, 1930, in Honaker, Virginia, to William and Dora (Fletcher) Jackson.

Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling; vacationing; going to the beach; sewing; baking; gardening and, most importantly, spending time with her family. She had much joy attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Margaret was also known for her famous cherry cheesecake.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Ron) Moline of Celina and Andrea (Ken) Belcher of Mount Vernon; one son, Timothy Harris of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, Shannon Moline, Amber (Robert) Campbell, Brittany (Nathan) Jordan, Cameron Cline, Mackenzi Cline, Nolan Belcher and Nash Belcher; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Cade, Connor and Brieann; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hattie Harris of Springfield.

Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy L. Harris in November 2003; brothers, Burke Jackson, Ollie Ward and Frank Jackson; Hazel Wilson; and Lois Crabtree.

Visitation will be held at the Lasater Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 5-7 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Margaret's family would like to thank the staffs of Brookdale and Kindred Hospice for the quality of care they provided to their mom.
