MOUNT VERNON – Darlene R. Theophilus, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Jan. 8, 2021, at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. She was born on April 24, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Ray and Mary (Kincade) Ward.
Darlene was a graduate of Whitehall Yearling High School. She retired from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. Darlene was a member of the Central Christian Church, where she was actively involved. She was a 40-year volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Response team and a volunteer for the Utica Fire Department. Darlene loved to help people.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Brent Theophilus; three children, Phil (Kathryn) Theophilus of Mount Vernon, Janet (Bill) White of Mount Vernon and Tim Theophilus of Loveland; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Chris Bunn of Fredericktown; and best friends, Nancy and Jim Spearman of Mount Vernon.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will observe services at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Central Christian Church in Darlene's memory.
