FREDERICKTOWN – James L. Wilson, 84, of Fredericktown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus. He was born on Oct. 4, 1936, in Mount Vernon, the son of Lloyd and Edna (Cochran) Wilson.
James was a 1954 graduate of Fredericktown High School and served in the United States Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964.
James previously worked for Hi-Lo in Butler and National Seating in Mansfield before retiring from AMG in Mount Vernon in 2003. Since retiring, he enjoyed tinkering in the garage and working on lawnmowers. He also enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.
James was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lennore (Swihart) Wilson; his children, Preston (Amy) Wilson of Mount Vernon, Perry (Becky) Wilson of Milan, Ohio, Philip (Amy) Wilson of Centerburg and Pam Wilson of Columbus; six grandchildren, Drew (Jenn) Wilson, Donna (Tom) Draime, Andrea (Wes) Miller, James (Beth) Wilson, Blake Cox, Ben Cox and Colton Petry; and five great-grandchildren, Caden Wilson, CeCe and Korey Draime, Olivia Wilson and Hailey Miller.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll Wilson and Dale Wilson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43019; where friends may call from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
