MOUNT VERNON – Virginia Eileen Casto, 78, of Mount Vernon, died on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Echo Manor in Pickerington. She was born on Sept. 2, 1942, in Mount Vernon, to Robert and Nellie (Stiers) Shannon.
Virginia graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1961. She worked for many years as a caregiver in nursing homes until she retired in 2010 from Ohio Eastern Star. Virginia loved traveling, shopping, dining out and spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kimberly (Andrew) Humbert of Reynoldsburg; brother, Robert (Pearlie) Shannon; and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, William Doup; and sisters, Leora Williams, Louise Beckholt and Roberta Gorsuch.
Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
