MOUNT VERNON — Eugene T. Curatti, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully at Knox Community Hospital on Dec. 29, 2020, after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes.
Gene was born in Mansfield on June 27, 1936, to the late Anthony and Rose (Fumea) Curatti. He married Brenda K. Lewis on Nov. 23, 1966, in Ashland.
Gene was a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. He was an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict on the USS Goodrich. After his military service he continued his 42-year career in Information Technology at various companies until his retirement in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of 54 years; sons, Thomas (Ann), of Flushing, Michigan, and Jay (Pamela), of Dublin; daughter, Christina Parker, of Franklin, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Taryn and Tessa Curatti, of Grand Rapids, MI, Jordan Curatti, of Marysville, Chance Parker, of Knoxville, TN, Cheyenne Parker, of Nashville, TN, and Tiffany Burggraf, of Galloway; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Calla Burggraf; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Laura Tiedeman, of MI; one brother, Raymond (Marita) Curatti, of Mansfield; sister-in-law Norma Allen, of Ashland; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Wilma Jean Curatti.
In accordance with Gene's wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral, but ask that you do a kind deed or say a special prayer for someone in need. A private graveside service with military honors will be observed with burial in the Mound View Cemetery.
