MOUNT VERNON — Barbara Kay Elswick, 67, of Mount Vernon, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020. She was born on March 7, 1953, in Nellie, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Primm) Hart. Barb volunteered for several years as an EMT for the Fredericktown Fire Department and for many years was the babysitter for her grandchildren.

Barb was an active member of the Covenant Christian Church of God. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting and most importantly she loved being a grandma.

She is survived by her children, Donnie (Kristi) Valentine, of Danville, Michael (Melissa) Valentine, of Mount Vernon and Brian (Elizabeth) Elswick, of Marysville; 11 grandchildren, Codee Valentine, Brittany Valentine, Courtney Valentine, Lily Valentine, Marissa Valentine, Hanah Valentine, Drew Valentine, Chase Valentine, Willa Elswick, Violet Elswick and Olia Elswick; two great-grandchildren, Ariella Valentine and Brianna Fraley; siblings, Fred (Carol) Hart, Loretta (Robert) Montgomery, Madelyn Sue Eastep, Gladys Caroline (Richard) Miller and Linda (Phillip) Brooks; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Elswick; and siblings, Donal Hart, Clarence Hart Jr., Tom Hart, Patricia Ann Hart and Pauline Elizabeth Hart.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Covenant Christian Church of God, 13360 New Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The family will observe a private service.
