HOWARD – Isaac W. (Bill) Dennis, 86, of Howard, passed peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020. He was born on March 31, 1934, in Buckeye (now Danville), Ohio; the son of the late Walter E. and Ruth L. (Eley) Dennis.
Bill was a loving husband and father to three children. He married Triesa (Frazee) Dennis, the love of his life, on May 11, 1954; and they were married for 58 years. Bill was a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army.
Throughout his work years, Bill enjoyed working at Kenyon College where he was employed in the maintenance department and drove their bus to sporting events. He also put colored lights on the big Christmas tree at the top of the hill for everyone to enjoy. He worked at Cooper-Bessemer/Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon, Gambier Co-op, Jelloway Valley Equipment, Danville Feed & Supply and for Mike Lemmons. After retirement, he enjoyed driving Amish friends to various destinations.
Bill enjoyed the Knox County Fair and sat on the board of directors before retiring. He had a passion for all things farm-related and was a long-time member of the Knox County Agricultural Museum in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his three children, Jacqueline (Rick) Allinder of Columbus, Janice Shaffer of Howard and Jeffery (Marina) Dennis of Virginia; a sister, Dollie Stumbaugh of Wooster; grandchildren, Mitch Payne (fiancée Holly Porter) of Sunbury, Alex Dennis of Virginia, Mandi Jones of Columbus and Ryan (Jody) Allinder of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Jake Jones, Morgan Jones, Addyson Allinder, Kamryn Allinder and Aubrey Allinder; and numerous nieces and nephews. He grew up in a large loving family and was a friend to many.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Triesa M. (Frazee) Dennis; two brothers, Harold and Robert; two sisters, Marjorie Nyhart Richert and Mabel Mizer; and a grandson, Ryan Payne.
Calling hours will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, with noon services following at the Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Cemetery proceedings will follow the service in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 12204 Schenck Creek Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
