FREDERICKTOWN – Thomas Stevenson Bennett, 70, of Fredericktown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020. He was born in Millersburg to Fluerdelis and Art Bennett.
Steve was a 1970 graduate of Danville High School, where he excelled on the football field as a running back and still holds records to this day. He was a 45-year employee of Kokosing Construction Company, where he became a superintendent at a young age. He retired from Kokosing in 2015.
To know Steve was to love him. He was the kindest, gentlest, most perfect man.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Ann Bennett, who was the love of his life; daughters, Emily (Bennett) Davis of South Carolina and Amy (Perry) Coder of Cardington; son, Tom (Mary Pat) Perry of Texas; and grandchildren, Marcie (Kyle Buskirk) Coder of Fredericktown, Ben Perry and Sarah Perry of Texas, Jack Perry and Sophie Perry of California, and Tanner Davis and Paislee Davis of South Carolina. Steve also had three men he considered sons, David (Donita) Stewart of Tennessee, Chad (Sheila) Schrack of Ohio and Cole Rose of Mansfield, whom he helped to raise; brother, Dan Bennett, and sister, Mary Ball, both of Danville; brothers-in-law, Buddy (Karen) Rose of Fredericktown and Jerry Rose of Mansfield; and sisters-in-law, Judy Conners of Mansfield and Brenda McGuire of Kentucky. He also had many loving nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, including Sandy (Joe) Hammons of Danville.
Steve was a friend to all, including life-long friends, Rick Stull of Danville, Roger and Sheila Oswalt of Butler, Doug Lester of Fredericktown, Barth and Sarah Burgett of Fredericktown, and Brenda Fernbaugh and family of Danville.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Luke Perry; sisters, Jane and Sylvia; brothers, Gene, Ross and Bob; and brothers-in-law, Phillip Conners, Lonnie Rose, Benny Rose and Bob Rose.
To honor Steve's wishes, calling hours will not be observed. A memorial will be planned in the future.
