DANVILLE – Donald C. Butts, 96, passed away at home on Dec. 12, 2020. He was born in Danville on Sept. 21, 1924, to Purcell H. and Rosena (Weber) Butts. 

Don was a graduate of Danville High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He was married to Janet Ann Blackford on Sept. 28, 1948, in St. Vincent Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. He was a member of St. Luke in Danville and also the Knights of Columbus Council 910. Don was a farmer and enjoyed mechanics, gardening and woodworking; and he made many charitable contributions of his woodwork over the years.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Anna) Butts of Apple Creek, Paul (Jane) Butts of Danville, Daniel (Keitha) Butts of Danville, Marilyn Motz of Loudonville, Elaine Butts of Loundonville, Theresa Crow of Danville, Angela (David) Messerly of Mount Vernon, James (Darlene) Butts of Danville, Ellen Tomes of Loudonville, Kenneth (Deborah) Butts of Wellsville and Andrew Butts of Loudonville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Marvin Smith; and sister, Marie (Ken) Smith of Millersburg.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet; a daughter, Vivian “Bev” Smith; grandsons, Jason and Adam Butts; a sister, Doris Christopher; and brothers, Robert, Richard and Louis Butts.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, where a private Mass for family will be held at 11 a.m. due to seating restrictions. The Celebrant will be Father Homer Blubaugh, assisted by Father Daniel Olvera. All are invited to the committal following at St. Luke Cemetery, and the service will be available to view at fischerfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for their care.
