MOUNT VERNON – Knox Public Health is offering residents who want to quit smoking a low-cost option with their Knox Out Tobacco program.
The classes are meant to assist in the cessation of not only products derived from tobacco, but any form of nicotine delivery system, even vaping, a release issued on the Knox Public Health website said.
The program has a $10 enrollment fee and progresses over the course of eight weeks, the release stated. During those eight weeks, enrollees will participate in counseling, support and nicotine replacement therapy.
The therapy is meant to assist in working through the withdrawal from nicotine addiction and will involve alternative nicotine delivery systems; such as gum, lozenges and patches; the release said. The expectation is that participants will have completely quit any form of nicotine delivery at the end of eight weeks.
The program is offered at the low enrollment fee due to funding assistance from the United Way of Knox County.
