As you age, hearing loss can be inevitable, and you may be reluctant to take action even if professionals confirm with an evaluation that you should do so.

If your spouse or partner is struggling with hearing it can be overwhelming, especially if they won't accept that they have a problem. If you are constantly being asked to turn up the volume on the radio or television, or are constantly asked to repeat yourself, it may be time to have a much-needed but difficult conversation with your loved one. Pick a good time to do so and remain calm.

You can tell them that it's affecting your relationship and the way the two of you communicate, that you're worried about their health and concerned for your own health due to stress and the loud volumes you are forced to be around, the Healthy Hearing website said. You can also make an appointment to have your own hearing tested to encourage them to follow suit. Always do your own research to be prepared for any objections your loved one may have.

If the roles are reversed and you are the one your partner says isn't hearing well; try your best to avoid being offended, educate yourself, schedule an appointment to get your hearing tested and treat your hearing loss as soon as possible.
