GAMBIER -- Melvin L. Yoder died on Sept. 29, 2020, at his residence in Gambier. He was born on April 5, 1932, in Middlefield, to the late Levi S. and Lizzie(Schrock) Yoder.
On Dec. 31, 1953, he was married to Dena Mast. Melvin was ordained as Deacon at MelitaChristian Fellowship in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Yoder; nine children, Edna (Edward) Hochstedler of Gambier; Irma (John) Wengerd of Dundee; Melvin Dale (Mary Ellen) Yoder of Danville; Daniel (Mary Edna) Yoder of Shipshewana, IN; Marvin (Esther) Yoder of Gambier; Ada (Wayne) Miller of Columbus, NC; Miriam (Marion) Miller of Gambier; Linda (Floyd) Eash of Utica; James (Monica) Yoder of Gambier; 46 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Miller of Hartville and Naomi Mast of Cochranton, PA.
He is preceded in death by four brothers, Steve Yoder of Nappanee, IN, Owen Yoder of Crofton, KY, Nelson Yoder of Hartville, and Levi Leon Yoder of Middlefield; three sisters, Mattie (Willis) Wittmer of Sarasota, FL; Sarah(Noah) Miller of Middlefield, OH; and Ada (Eli) Miller of Carrollton,OH.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Melita Christian Fellowship, 9956 Camp Ohio Road, Utica, OH 43080. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at Melita Christian Fellowship.
