Masks have become a new staple in women's wardrobes in 2020, and it’s unclear how long they will be required or recommended.

But one thing is for sure: there are ways you can match your hair and makeup to the mask you decide to wear. With half your face covered by a mask, the focus on your eyes and makeup is essential.

As Glamour Magazine pointed out, forget any makeup on the lips and focus on the eyes.

“This year is all about the eyes. With half our face obscured by our masks, users have been taking to social media to share how they’ve tackled #maskmakeup and— you guessed it— maximalist eyeshadow, crisp winged liner and lashings of mascara all feature heavily,” Glamour said.

Whether it be bold eyeliner or eyeshadow, make the eyes stand out. Also, it's important to make eyebrows pop as well. You can use gels and pencils to make them pop.

Jenni Middleton, director of beauty at trend-forecasting company WGSN, told The Independent she predicts there will be a surge in the trend for matching eye makeup to face masks.

You can match the color of your mask to the color of your eyeshadow or eyeliner. You can also boldly use eyeliner to make your eyes stand out even more— or sparkles to add even more flare.

There are also numerous color eyeshadows you can use, and you can apply several to your eyes that highlight them and also bring in the color of your mask.

Glamour Magazine featured many women in masks in photos, and they all coordinated their eye makeup with their masks for a stylish look. One woman with a gingham mask even copied the mask theme onto her eyes.

Eyelashes, too, need to be more dramatic, and fuller lashes will make the eyes stand out.

Hair styles, too, may change as mask wearing can flatten hairdos. For those with long hair, fashion experts told The Independent that putting hair up in a messy bun may be a solution. The high pony tail, too, is an option as the mask will not get caught on a woman's hair.

"We've matched our bra and underwear, we've matched our nails and our lipstick, and now it's time to match our masks and our makeup," Elle Magazine said.

One woman featured in the magazine had a black polka dot mask and replicated the design on her eyes for a glamours look. Another wore a pink mask and included pink eyeliner around her eyes.

The options for matching eye makeup and hair styles with masks are endless.
