Knox Substance Abuse Action Team

The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT) invites the community to come together on Friday, Aug. 30 to remember those who have died or suffered permanent injury due to drug overdose and support families who have lost loved ones over the years.

In response to the growing fentanyl crisis and its devastating impact on communities, Knox Substance Abuse Action Team announced a collaborative effort with RecoveryOhio and several Ohio state departments.

The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT) presented the Mount Vernon Police Department’s PAK (Police and Kids) United Program with a $5,000 check on Thursday, May 25.

Knox County will be participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 22.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Established in 1987 by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), this annual campaign encourages community organizations to host events that increase public awareness and educate people about the treatment and prevention of alcoholism.

Knox County had good participation in Saturday’s Drug Take Back Day, with 143 pounds of unwanted and expired medications collected at five different locations.

The Communities Coming Together Conference, set for June 7-8 this year at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Chapel, will welcome Laura Stack.

The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team has announced that recent Penn State University graduate Baylee Ruggles has been hired as a program coordinator and she is looking forward to her new role to help those struggling with addiction in the Mount Vernon community.

At its recent annual meeting, KSAAT highlighted key achievements over the past year: drug take-back days and expanding prison services, among others.
