MOUNT VERNON – The Communities Coming Together Conference, set for June 7-8 this year at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Chapel, will welcome Laura Stack.

Laura Stack, MBA, CSP, CPAE, wrote "The Dangerous Truth About Today's Marijuana: Johnny Stack's Life and Death Story" about the loss of her son and founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Johnny's Ambassadors.

Stack, author of eight best-selling productivity books and a professional speaker for 30 years, embarked on her advocacy work after the loss of her son by suicide, according to the event’s press release.

“Laura sees it as her responsibility to share Johnny's warning about his marijuana use to save other young lives,” the release said. “By sharing Johnny’s own warning about marijuana, Laura helps parents understand and talk to their children about the potential harms of today’s marijuana."

Stack combines marijuana education, awareness and prevention curriculum around the globe to raise awareness of youth THC use, mental illness and suicide.

A compilation of Focusing on Youth Issues (FYI) Conference and the Knox Addiction Conference, the Communities Coming Together Conference offers public presentations as well as several professional development tracks and opportunities for continuing education credits.

The conference, according to the release, "is an excellent opportunity for the community to examine their diverse strengths and talents to build resiliency, reduce stigma and strengthen our communities together."
