Russell "Gene" Yarman, 88, was called home Nov. 11, 2022, after a short illness.

Therese “Irene” Donahue, an incredibly crazy, stubborn, independent, strong-willed, generous, and maddeningly loyal mother, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, after a long battle with end-stage emphysema.

Saturday, Nov. 19 Sail On, the Beach Boys tribute band, will be presented by the Community Concert Association of Knox County. Sail On brings a young look and authentic sound reminiscent of the original Beach Boys during the prime of their career. The group’s harmonies capture the sound of the iconic band and transport the audience to the beach for an evening of memories and Fun, Fun, Fun. Restrooms at Mount Vernon parks have been closed for the season. Parks Department crews winterized the facilities last week.

Paul Edward Watters Jr., 81, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 10, 2022.

For 30 years Mount Vernon's Red Cross office was located on Mulberry Street, but it is now located at 812 Coshocton Ave., building 2, unit 4, behind Pak-Mail and across from Kroger.

The Municipal Planning Commission approved a lot split to enable financing for part of the Old Mulberry School multifamily development and they learned the new name for Cooper Progress Park.

Bernard “Mac” Carlton Carrier, 83, of Mount Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 8, 2022, at his home, in Mount Vernon.
