WALHONDING – Deacon Eli A. Troyer, 72, died Jan. 5, 2023, in his home after an extended illness.                

He was born April 8, 1950, to the late Andrew D. and Clara J. (Yoder) Troyer. On April 6, 1972, he married Katie L. Hershberger. He was a member of the Old Order Amish.     

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children John (Mattie) Troyer of the home, Henry (Barbara) Troyer, Andy (Edna) Troyer, Levi (Laura) Troyer, Eli (Ruth) Troyer, David (Mattie) Troyer, Alvin (Netty) Troyer, Raymond (Susie) Troyer, Anna (David) Raber, Clara (Noah) Raber, and Katie Raber; 83 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Henry (Mattie) Troyer of Fredericktown, Davey (Fannie) Troyer of Hillsboro, and John (Elizabeth) Troyer of Howard; sisters Ella (John) Hershberger of Howard, and Clara (Mosie) Hostetler of Conowanga, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Dan (Ada) Hostetler of Conowanga; and sisters-in-law Edna Troyer, and Mary Troyer of Howard.                

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Andy and Alvin Troyer; a sister, Mary Hostetler; and a grandson, Eli R. Troyer.

Funeral services will take place at the residence, 28582 New Castle Road, Walhonding, Ohio 43843, at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8. Bishop Ammon Raber will officiate. Burial will be in the Troyer Cemetery on Wharton Lane in Butler Township. Family and friends may call any time. The Fischer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
