The City of Mount Vernon announced on Facebook that it is accepting applications for its upcoming eligibility list for the Shift Operator position. While there are no immediate vacancies, candidates who complete the examination process will be notified when future openings arise.
According to the announcement, this eligibility list will be used to fill positions at either the Water Plant or the Wastewater Plant, depending on which becomes available first. The Shift Operator role involves performing EPA-standard physical, chemical, and biological tests, monitoring plant operating conditions, adjusting equipment controls, and conducting essential preventative maintenance.
The city said that individuals interested in starting or advancing a career in water utilities can apply now to take the exam and secure a place on the eligibility list. Those who qualify will be fully prepared when an opening occurs.
