Kathy Brechler will step down from her role as executive director of Food For The Hungry, according to an announcement by Austin Swallow, president of the organization's board of directors. Brechler, who has led the organization through its past two annual drives, is retiring to focus on personal pursuits after previously retiring from Kenyon College in 2024.
Swallow said, "From the very beginning, Kathy demonstrated her dedication to representing Food For The Hungry and leading our efforts with excellence."
During her tenure as executive director, Brechler launched Pantry Partners Access meetings to improve communication among partners, increased attendance and awareness at the annual Snowflake Gala by announcing recipients earlier and involving them in drives, welcomed new volunteers, and strengthened relationships with organizations and contributors. The organization noted that her enthusiasm for helping others will be missed but confirmed she will remain involved.
Brechler has agreed to continue in her current role through July 1, 2026. She will also stay active on both the Gala Committee—which she helped develop in 2011—and the Community Committee. Swallow said, "We are grateful that FFTH will continue to benefit from Kathy’s insight, dedication, and passion in the years ahead."
With Brechler’s departure from her current position forthcoming, Food For The Hungry is seeking an Annual Drive and Community Relations Director. More information can be found on the official roster page.
