Newton families are being invited to step into leadership and help shape the direction of the school community, as nominations for the Newton Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Board for the 2026–2027 school year are now officially open.
All board positions are available, giving parents and guardians a chance to play an active role in supporting students, staff, and school programs in the year ahead.
According to the announcement shared with families, parents who have ideas for next school year, want to see improvements in how activities and initiatives are organized, or are simply looking for a meaningful way to stay involved in their child’s education, are encouraged to consider submitting a nomination. Serving on the PTO board also offers opportunities to connect with other parents and contribute to decisions that directly impact the school community.
Several leadership roles are open as part of the nomination process. The PTO president serves as the primary coordinator and facilitator of meetings and initiatives, helping guide the organization’s priorities and keeping projects moving forward. The vice president supports the president and assists with planning and decision-making throughout the year. The secretary helps maintain records, meeting notes, and communication details that keep the organization organized and informed. The treasurer's role is essential for keeping the parent group’s finances organized, ensuring funds are tracked and allocated to support school projects. Together, these positions form the core leadership team that supports events, programming, and collaboration between families and the school.
Parents interested in participating are asked to submit their name and the position they are interested in by emailing [email protected]. The deadline to submit nominations is April 13.
All nominees must be present at the April 14 PTO meeting, when voting will take place to finalize the board for the upcoming school year. Organizers say participation at the meeting ensures nominees can be introduced and allows families to take part in the selection process in person.
School leaders hope many families will consider stepping forward, noting that parent involvement plays a key role in building a strong and connected school environment. Those interested in helping support events, share ideas, and strengthen communication between families and staff are encouraged to take part in the nomination process.
