The Mount Vernon Nazarene University indoor men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded the Crossroads League Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on February 20-21.
The event saw the men’s team place seventh out of ten teams with a total of 49 points, while the women’s team finished ninth with 29 points. Marian University won both the men’s and women’s meets, scoring 236 and 244 points respectively. The results highlight competitive performances from MVNU athletes in several events.
According to Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Tyler Shipley was the conference champion in the pole vault, placing first with a NAIA A Standard vault of 4.85 meters. Simon Rohwer placed second and earned All-League status in the 600 meters with a time of 1:21.32, which also set a school record. Evan Hodkinson placed second overall in the 1000 meters, earning All-League status with a time of 2:28.99.
On the women’s side, the 4x800 meter relay team—Ashley Yoder, Louisa Hallabrin, Allison Bonito, and Tammy Liplin—placed second overall and earned All-League honors with a time of 9:36.66. The 4x400 meter relay team—Kate Ruffle, Maddy Lengacher, Makenna Langford, and Isabel Henderson—earned All-League honors for their third-place finish; their time of 4:01.88 set a new program record. Leah Cooper broke her own school record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.89 seconds during preliminaries. Langford also set a new school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:37.62, placing sixth overall.
MVNU reports that its national qualifiers will now prepare for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships scheduled for March 5-7 in Gainesville, Florida.
