On Feb. 21, the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s volleyball team lost to No. 6 Lawrence Tech University in a conference match held in Southfield, Michigan.
The Cougars started slowly, trailing early and dropping the first set 25–20. The second set was closely contested at the start, but Lawrence Tech pulled ahead and secured it 25–21. Mount Vernon Nazarene responded by winning the third set 25–19 with a .533 hitting percentage, recording nine kills and only one error. However, Lawrence Tech clinched the match by taking the fourth set 25–18 for a final score of 3–1.
Ethan Cline led Mount Vernon Nazarene with 13 kills and five blocks. Tommy Tierney contributed nine kills and eight digs, while Hayvin Larison recorded seven blocks at the net. Jaxson Snell had 33 assists and three kills.
The Cougars’ next match is scheduled at home against Cumberland University on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m.
