The Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) women's basketball team faced a challenging match against Grace College Lancers on February 7 at Ariel Arena. Despite an early lead, the Lady Cougars were unable to maintain their advantage and ultimately lost 98-87.

In the first quarter, MVNU took control with Melodie Blubaugh scoring 13 points, helping her team to a 34-25 lead. The Lady Cougars continued to hold a nine-point advantage at halftime. However, Grace College responded in the second half with a strong full-court press that forced MVNU into numerous turnovers. This defensive strategy allowed the Lancers to close the gap and eventually take the lead in the fourth quarter.

Blubaugh achieved a career-high of 23 points for MVNU, while Kylie Leibacher led all scorers with 26 points. Lily Shepard contributed 16 points, and Abby Hardwick added 11 assists. Despite outrebounding Grace College 51-43, MVNU's 29 turnovers were detrimental.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is part of both the Crossroads League and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as noted on their official about page. The university emphasizes community service and global outreach through its programs.

The Lady Cougars will next face Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana on February 11.
