The Salvation Army Mount Vernon recently celebrated the completion of its new Learning Lighthouse facility. The event took place on January 18, 2026, and was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony that can be viewed on their Facebook page. "Because of each one of you, The Salvation Army has been able to bring the vision to life and now the work of caring for our children and families begins in a whole new way," said a representative from the organization.
The construction of the facility concluded with an open house in November, which was attended by community members and volunteers who contributed to raising funds for the project. The dedication day gathered officers, volunteers, and community members as they prepared to open the Lighthouse's doors for service to children, youth, and their parents.
The organization expressed gratitude for those who supported from afar as well as those present at the celebration. They emphasized their commitment to investing time, energy, love, affirmation, skill training, spiritual character, and hope into all who visit. "Our profit will be changed lives, a stronger community, hope-filled people, strengthened families and Light in the Darkness!" they added.
The year 2025 was significant for The Salvation Army in Mount Vernon due to these efforts. They are eager about continuing their mission in the upcoming year.
