North Fork Local Schools will open online registration for incoming kindergarten students from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28.

Children must be born on or before Aug. 1, 2021, to be eligible to begin kindergarten in the fall.

Kindergarten screening will be held in March, with Utica Elementary students on March 12 and Newton Elementary students on March 13.

Parents and guardians can find registration details beginning Feb. 1 on the district's website at www.northfork.k12.oh.us, under the Enrollment link.

To complete registration, families must upload several documents, including the child's birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, proof of residency, and custody papers if applicable. A copy of the child's current Individual Education Program (IEP) is also required for students receiving special education services.

The district reminds families to ensure children are up to date on required immunizations before screening. Ohio law mandates the following vaccinations for kindergarten entry:

  • Five doses of DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
  • Four doses of Polio
  • Two doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Three doses of Hepatitis B
  • Two doses of Varicella (Chickenpox)
Parents are encouraged to contact their child's pediatrician or local health department to schedule immunization appointments ahead of the registration deadline.

North Fork Local Schools serve students in Licking and Knox Counties. The district's annual kindergarten screening helps educators assess developmental readiness and identify early support needs.
