Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is inviting public input on a draft wastewater discharge permit for the National Lime and Stone Company’s Chesterville facility. The meeting is scheduled for January 6, 2026, at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
The draft permit concerns modifications requested by National Lime and Stone to increase the total suspended solids in its discharge. This request involves changes to their existing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. To develop this draft, Ohio EPA conducted an antidegradation review to assess social and economic benefits while ensuring that the receiving stream's current uses are maintained.
Ohio EPA had previously announced the antidegradation review during a public meeting on September 18, 2025. Following public feedback, they issued the draft permit which will be discussed at the upcoming meeting.
