The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has announced that the Village of Centerburg will join its ranks as a member community starting January 1, 2026. This decision was approved by the commission on December 11, 2025. The village, with a population of approximately 1,725 residents, is situated in southwestern Knox County, about 40 miles northeast of Columbus.
William Murdock, MORPC’s Executive Director, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: "We are proud to welcome the Village of Centerburg as our newest partner. Collaborations with partners such as Centerburg are vital to guaranteeing that all communities have access to necessary planning resources and services."
As a member of MORPC, Centerburg will gain access to various resources including data, technical assistance, educational forums, and funding opportunities for local projects. Additionally, the village will have representation on the MORPC commission through a voting member who will participate in guiding the agency's strategic direction.
Rick Dzik, Centerburg’s Village Administrator, commented on the significance of this membership: "Mayor Tom Stewart, Centerburg Village Council, and myself are excited to join MORPC on behalf of our community. As Centerburg experiences unprecedented growth, we look forward to the collaboration and insight into issues that cross municipal and regional boundaries that MORPC provides along with their professional expertise and assistance with funding opportunities."
The inclusion of Centerburg increases MORPC’s local government membership to 92. More information about the village can be found at their official website: Village of Centerburg - Home.
