Knox County will host the 44th annual Food For The Hungry (FFTH) Drive Day on Friday, December 12. The event aims to raise $340,000 and collect as much food as possible to support local organizations such as The Salvation Army and Interchurch Social Services.
The event, titled "Food For The Hungry Live," will be broadcast from the Memorial Theater in Mount Vernon from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Listeners can tune in via various radio stations, including 100.9 FM and WMVO.com, while video coverage will be available on mvnu.tv and YouTube.
Non-perishable food and monetary donations can be made at several collection points across Knox County between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with extended hours at certain locations like The Knox Memorial until 4:30 p.m. Financial contributions are also accepted through the FFTH website or by mail.
Local media figures Marcy Rinehart, Joe Rinehart, and Curtis Newland will host the live broadcast. Various organizations such as Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Department of Communication and Spectrum are providing technical support for the event.
Throughout the day, presentations will feature community members' contributions to FFTH. Additionally, reports from previous events that have raised funds for the drive will be shared. A total of $55,000 was distributed among 23 organizations through FFTH Winter Grants.
The grand total of funds raised will be announced during the week of December 15 after all related events conclude. Contributions continue until December 31, with final results expected in early January 2026.
