East Elementary hosts winter music program on Dec. 15. | East Elementary School

East Elementary is closing the year with a festive blend of celebration and recognition. The community is invited to look forward to the caroling bus, enjoy the winter music program, and celebrate students’ first‑quarter achievements.

The East Caroling Bus will bring holiday cheer on Monday, Dec. 8. Staff members will lead carols at three stops: Eastern Star at 5:15 p.m., Public Square at 5:45 p.m., and East Elementary at 6:00 p.m. 

The festivities continue with the school’s annual winter music program, A World of Holidays: A Musical Journey, presented by third, fourth, and fifth-grade students. Under the direction of music teacher Mrs. Rebecca Japikse, the performance will take place on Monday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the MVHS Theater. 

In addition to seasonal events, East Elementary has announced its academic awards for the first grading period. Students earning Honor Roll distinction include Isla Anderson, Preston Bohman, Leo Brady, Kye Clinedinst, Marshall Derr, Kinley Flanagan, Margery Gerecke, Bailey Grubaugh, Mollie Jurkowitz, Nora Lilley, Dekker Orr, Paxton Potter, Elizabeth Radcliffe, Scarlett Selzer, Norah Stroop, Peter Thurman, Layla Tuhey, Grant Vance, Kennedy Vicars, and Everson Waters.

Academic Excellence honorees represent a wide range of grades and include Lily Auker, Kaeden Berger, Kat Brewer, Aria Brickner, Dominic Brown, Stella Burris, Parker Busenburg, Darren Butler, Riley Butler, Sophia Carpenter, Hensley Chrisman, Chloe Conkle, Jace Cooper, Gideon Day, Faye Gantt, Elliana Hamilton, Macie Hughes, Griffin Hunt, Jack Lobdell, Bella Lybarger, Emma Miletic, Skylar Mullins, Jack Myser, Calla Newmeyer, Rylin Plumly, Matty Ragor, Teagan Riley, Isaac Ryals, Matthew Sanchez, Emeree Scarbury, Eben Serio, Sage Shaw, Lauren Skinner, Ronan Steinmetz, Jackson Stewart, Illeana Strouse, Isaiah Sutter, Carenna Swallow, Cole Theibert, Apollos Vanderhoof, Grant Welker, and Lily Wells.

Merit Roll recognition was awarded to Grayson Blanchard, Kue Clinedinst, Raina Cowan, Audrey Curran, Kara Dapprich, Jace Edwards, Emerson Garn, William Gayer, Dawn Howard, Jack Huffman, Cooper Keller, Kyle Lockett, Harloh Petty, Colton Priest, Kylynn Priest, and Aubree Thomas.

Joy swept through East Elementary in September as the school received a five‑star rating on the 2024–2025 Ohio School Report Card, a milestone that also sparked celebration across the community.
