“East Elementary is SHINING BRIGHT!” East Elementary proudly shared on its social media accounts. “We are proud to announce that East has earned an overall 5-STAR Rating on the 24–25 Ohio School Report Card! This recognition celebrates the hard work of our students and our staff, and the support of our families and community!"
The Ohio School Report Card evaluates schools across several key components, including Achievement, Progress, and Gap Closing. The Achievement Component assesses how well students perform on state tests, providing a snapshot of academic proficiency. The Progress Component measures student growth over time, taking into account their previous performance to highlight improvement. Meanwhile, the Gap Closing Component focuses on equity, tracking how effectively schools are reducing educational disparities among different student groups. Together, these metrics offer a comprehensive view of school performance and student success.
The Ohio School Report Card uses a detailed rating scale to evaluate overall school performance. Schools earning 4.125 points or more receive a 5-star rating, indicating they significantly exceed state standards. A score between 3.625 and 4.124 earns 4.5 stars, while scores from 3.125 to 3.624 and 2.625 to 3.124 receive 4 and 3.5 stars respectively—both reflecting that the school exceeds or meets state standards. Ratings of 3 stars (2.125 to 2.624) also indicate that a school meets expectations.
