The Knox County Park District and the Millwood Church of Christ are collaborating to host the Fire and Ice event at Honey Run Waterfall. Scheduled for Saturday, December 6, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the event aims to support Food for the Hungry - Mount Vernon in reaching its 2025 goal of $340,000 in monetary donations and non-perishable food items.
Participants must park at Millwood Church of Christ on Millersburg Road (US 62) in Howard, as there is no parking available at the waterfall site. Volunteers will be present at designated locations in the church's parking lot to collect donations. The funds and food collected will benefit Interchurch Social Services of Knox County, the Mount Vernon Salvation Army, and other local organizations focused on food initiatives.

Interchurch Social Services' food pantry has seen an increase from serving nearly 200 families monthly in 2022 to over 700 families each month in 2025. Donations have a significant impact; every dollar donated provides $4.56 worth of buying power for food pantries through Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
Attendees can take a KAT shuttle from Millwood Church of Christ to Honey Run Waterfall. The event features hundreds of luminarias guiding visitors along trails to view the illuminated waterfall cascading over blackhand sandstone into Kokosing River.
Food for the Hungry encourages community involvement through attending events, donating, volunteering, or hosting fundraising activities. More information is available on their website www.FoodForTheHungryCares.org or by following them on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
The organization will also host its annual FFTH Live Broadcast on Friday, December 12, at Memorial Theater inside Knox Memorial. This event celebrates community efforts against hunger in Knox County.
