Three Mount Vernon organizations are offering free food to the community this month.
The Church On The Rise will host a free food distribution on Saturday, Nov. 15. Community members are invited to visit the church in the morning at 7512 Newark Road between 8:30 and 10:30 to pick up a ticket for a scheduled food distribution later that day.
"We have been blessed with wonderful produce and food to help with Thanksgiving so [we] want to bless others. FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION ON SATURDAY November 15th," the church posted on Facebook. "PLEASE COME TO THE CHURCH LOCATED AT 7512 NEWARK ROAD, MOUNT VERNON, BETWEEN 8:30 A.M. AND 10:30 AM ON THE 15th TO PICK UP A TICKET. COME BACK TO THE CHURCH AT THE TIME ON THE TICKET AND SIGN IN AND PICK UP YOUR FOOD."
The church emphasizes its commitment to inclusivity, stating that they are an equal opportunity pantry, and everyone is welcome to receive free food.
"We just want to bless others as we have been blessed," the institution added.

On Thanksgiving Day, Half Baked Bistro and Mount Vernon Church of Christ will be serving free meals.
At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, a holiday meal will be served at Half Baked Bistro, 1 W High Street in Mount Vernon. According to the restaurant owner, Rebecca Walters Ajodhya, all in need are welcome to dine in or pick up a Thanksgiving meal at no cost.
That evening, the Mount Vernon Church of Christ will host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. at 1200 Newark Road. Guests can enjoy a full holiday meal featuring turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, rolls, gravy, and dessert—all served free of charge. This is a dine-in-only event, and everyone is welcome to share in the warmth and fellowship.
