Heath High School, ranked eighth, was defeated in their first-round playoff game with a score of 3-22 against Fairfield Union, which is ranked ninth. As a result, Fairfield Union will advance to face the top-seeded New Lexington.
According to reports, Fairfield Union's defense successfully limited Heath's powerful offense to just 92 total yards. This defensive performance is notable given that Heath had accumulated a total of 170 points over their last four games.
Halfway through the first quarter, Fairfield’s quarterback Dean Clark initiated the scoring with a four-yard rushing touchdown. The team secured the extra point attempt (PAT), bringing the score to 7-0.
The score remained unchanged until early in the second quarter when Heath’s kicker, Camden Montgomery, executed a 47-yard field goal, adjusting the score to 7-3. This field goal would ultimately be Heath’s only points for the night.
Fairfield’s second touchdown occurred via a pick-six by linebacker Colton Borah. He returned an interception ten yards for a touchdown when Heath threw from Fairfield’s ten-yard line. This was followed by a successful two-point conversion.
The first half ended with Fairfield leading 15-3.
In the final half, the only touchdown came from player number nine on a two-yard run, concluding the game with a final score of 3-22.
